    Compressed air storage is another energy storage method which can realize large-scale industrial applications. Using this kind of energy storage method, the surplus electric energy is used to drive air compressor during the power grid load trough, and the air pressure is sealed in caves, abandoned mines and expired oil and gas wells. The compressed air is released during the peak load period to propel the gas turbine to generate electricity. Because of its high efficiency, long life, fast response and high energy conversion efficiency (about 75%), compressed air storage is one of the potential energy storage technologies. Superconducting energy storage Systems (SMEs) use the superconducting system to store magnetic field energies, power transmission without energy form conversion, with fast response (MS level), high conversion efficiency (Seum), Specific capacity (1-10/)/Specific power (104-105k) and other advantages, can be realized with power system real-time large-capacity energy exchange and power compensation. SMEs can fully meet the voltage support, power compensation, frequency regulation, improve system stability and power transmission capacity requirements of the transmission and distribution network.Energy Storage System
