Recreational cannabis sales began in the state of New Jersey on Thursday, April 21, 2022! Find all of the recreational cannabis details you need in our new post, New Jersey Recreational Cannabis is Here! What Does That Mean for Medical Patients?

Yes! As of April 2022, recreational cannabis is legal in New Jersey. Recreational cannabis sales officially began on April 21, 2022. 

There are specific allotments for personal use cannabis consumers in New Jersey. Adult use consumers may purchase up to 1 ounce of cannabis from dispensaries. Legally, they may only possess that 1 ounce.   

Medical patients, on the other hand, may legally possess up to 3 ounces of medical cannabis from dispensaries. 

Recreational cannabis is available at Zen Leaf Elizabeth and Lawrence! Adult use consumers may visit Monday through Friday, 9AM – 9PM, and Sunday 11AM – 8PM. 

Zen Leaf Neptune will remain medical only, though Lawrence Township and Elizabeth both offer recreational cannabis sales in addition to medical.

Yes, sales tax does apply to recreational orders! 6.625% will be added to recreational cannabis purchases.  

Some municipalities may elect to tax an additional 2% on top of the state-required 6.625% – as these municipalities are identified, they will be listed here. 

Yes, recreational shopping hours differ from medical shopping hours.  

At Zen Leaf Elizabeth and Lawrence, recreational cannabis shoppers are welcome: 

Mon – Thur: 10AM – 9PM 

Fri – Sat: 8AM – 10PM

Sun: 11AM – 8PM 

Cannabis gifts are legal in the state of New Jersey! No payment or compensation may be exchanged for the cannabis, and the recipient must be 21 years old. 

Zen Leaf Lawrence does not currently offer delivery, but Zen Leaf Neptune does! Order for home delivery statewide from the Zen Leaf Neptune dispensary.
