GreenGate Chicago joined the Zen Leaf Dispensary family in spring of 2022. While the dispensary has renamed, the friendly faces and trustworthy products you know and love will remain the same. 

We accept U.S.-issued driver’s licenses, IDs, and permits. We can also accept domestic and international passports, consular ID cards, international election ID cards, visas, and green cards. We cannot accept international driver’s licenses or permits. Please give us a call if you are unsure if your ID is valid. 

Zen Leaf Chicago (Rogers Park) does offer special savings to first-time patients. Patients will receive 20% off their first medical marijuana purchase, while recreational users will receive no discount.

Unfortunately, we cannot allow children into the dispensary, nor can we allow them to be present for curbside service. Please do not bring persons under the age of 21 to the dispensary or its grounds unless they are a qualifying Illinois medical patient. 

You may consume cannabis in your own home, backyard or back porch or on any private residence so long as you are not in public view. Landlords reserve the right to establish and enforce their own policies about cannabis possession and consumption. 

Consumption and possession are prohibited on:

  • a school bus
  • the grounds of any primary or secondary school, unless permitted for a qualifying patient or caregiver
  • in any correctional facility
  • in a vehicle, unless the cannabis is in a reasonably secured, sealed container that is reasonably inaccessible while the vehicle is in motion
  • in any private residence that is used to provide licensed social services or childcare on the premises 

Consumption is also prohibited:

  • in hospitals, health care facilities, adult care, childcare and other similar social service care
  • restaurants, bars, taverns, gaming facilities
  • concert halls, auditoriums, enclosed or partially enclosed sports arenas, skating rinks, bowling alleys, polling places, convention facilities and private clubs, lobbies, reception areas, waiting rooms, break rooms and other common-use areas
  • public places and buildings like offices, elevators, theaters, museums, libraries, educational institutions, schools, commercial establishments, enclosed shopping centers and retail stores
  • in any publicly visible place (front porch, in your car, sidewalk)
  • while knowingly in close proximity to anyone under 21 who is not a qualifying medical cannabis patient

Medical card patients only pay about 1% in taxes, compared to recreational customers who pay:

  • 10% in taxes for cannabis with a THC level of 35% or below,
  • 25% in taxes for cannabis with a THC level above 35%, OR
  • 20% in taxes for cannabis-infused products

Medical patients can grow up to 5 cannabis plants at home. They can also make multiple purchases in one day.  Adult-use consumers cannot grow plants.
